Donation to Support Financial Literacy Boot Camp for High School Students

April 05, 2022

Alive Credit Union staff members presented a check for $12,500 to High School 9:12 as part of Elan’s charitable giving program, Across the Country. The donation will support and expand two programs at High School 9:12, including the addition of a second 6-week financial literacy course for students in the Jacksonville community. Young adults will meet weekly to learn about money management and personal finance goals.

Stan Bagby, Business Development at High School 9:12 stated, “We have received several notes regarding the [financial literacy] boot camp — the response has been amazing. We are very excited about this new program.”

The donation from Elan, on behalf of Alive Credit Union, will also help fund a popular media training day for high school athletes. The event teaches valuable speaking and interpersonal skills which student athletes can use to hopefully increase their chances of a college scholarship.

“Alive Credit Union nominated High School 9:12 because of their dedication to maximizing the growth of students and providing the tools needed to succeed as future leaders of our community. Through their three key programs which focus on academics, sports and life skills, High School 9:12 provides an array of activities such as SAT/ACT study boot camps, financial education boot camps, award scholarships, media days for young athletes, and so much more.” added Christian Pagan, Alive Credit Union Marketing and Business Development Manager.
